The Tale of the Bladder of Gall and Stones

So, Saturday night, the husband and I went out to dinner with friends and I kind of splurged food-wise. OK, so it was an Italian restaurant and I more than splurged, I pigged out. Had I know what it was going to do though, I never would have eaten all that creamy cream sauce. At about 10:30 pm, I started to feel not so good, but I chalked it up to my rich dinner. But at 1:30 AM when I was in even more pain and throwing up, I called my Mom. (Isn't that what you are supposed to do?) She confirmed what I thought, an attack of the gallstones. I woke up the husband (he wasn't happy about that part) and told him he needed to take me to the ER. We went to a small hospital so we got in right away and the nurse and doctor both agreed with my mother's diagnosis. Anti-nausea medicine and some narcotics, I was feeling better. They sent me home with instructions to call me doctor and to get an ultrasound. Which I did, this morning. And yes, the ultrasound confirmed everyone's diagnosis that yes, I had gallstones and lots of them. Here's the thing that got me, all the medical staff kept telling me I needed to stick to a strict lowfat diet...assuming I previously had not. The kicker is I had been eating really healthy for months and this one night was a not the usual.

So tomorrow I go to the surgeon and I'm sure he'll tell me to stick to a lowfat diet until he can pull my gall bladder out of me.
